Take a few minutes and find out what a certified translation is, what its scope is and when it is necessary.

It is the transcription of an official document into another language, carried out by people registered in an official body. It must comply with formal requirements to guarantee its authenticity, such as the signature and stamp of the control authority.

The certification of a document ensures that it was carried out by legally qualified personnel, with institutional backing and permanent technical updating.

There is a wide variety of documents that can be translated and certified. In general, the most requested ones correspond to:

  • Personal translations
  • Civil documents
  • Business documents
  • Parts of a certified translation

The characteristics of a certified document may vary depending on the official body and the purpose of the document. However, there are some general details to keep in mind about certifications.

Presengint a cover page

Including a statement

Including a seal or declaration

Showing an identification

Indicating which governmental body authorises the professional to do the work.

This is an approximation of the procedure for the digital certification of translations.

1- They will only be valid for professionals registered with the association or authorised body. The registration must be valid, and the professional must not be ineligible.

2- Hard copies of digitally signed documents are not legally valid. It is very important to check whether the recipient body accepts the digital format.

3- The documents to be translated may be in the original digital format or digitalized (scanned) in pdf.

4- Although it is possible to use different formats at the client’s request, we strongly recommend using at least the first page with the letterhead templates.

5- Once the translation has been completed, save the text document as a pdf and attach the source document.

The specific conditions for the translation will depend on the purpose of each document. Find all the information you need on our blog or contact our advisory team.
